In the biblical passage of Matthew 14:22-33 and Mark 6:45-52, Jesus performs one of his most astonishing miracles by walking on water. The disciples were in a boat, facing strong winds and rough seas when they saw Jesus walking towards them on the water. Initially, they were terrified, thinking it was a ghost, but Jesus calmed their fears by telling them, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
Peter, one of the disciples, was filled with faith and asked Jesus to allow him to come out onto the water as well. Jesus granted his request, and Peter stepped out of the boat. At first, Peter walked on the water towards Jesus, but as he became afraid and doubted, he began to sink. Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught Peter, saying, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
This miracle serves as a powerful lesson about the importance of faith and trust in Jesus. It demonstrates that with unwavering faith, we can overcome any obstacle, even walking on water. Just as Peter was saved when he called out to Jesus, we too can find strength and salvation in our Savior when we put our trust in him.
