The Quick City

The concept of the 15 Minute City is gaining traction as urban planners and designers seek to create more sustainable and livable cities. The idea is simple: everything a person needs for their daily life should be within a 15-minute walk or bike ride from their doorstep. This includes access to work, schools, grocery stores, healthcare facilities, parks, public transportation, and cultural amenities.

By designing cities in this way, we reduce the need for long commutes, which not only saves time and reduces stress but also decreases carbon emissions and promotes a healthier lifestyle. It also promotes a sense of community, as residents are more likely to interact with their neighbors when they are all within close proximity to each other.

Cities around the world are beginning to implement the 15 Minute City concept, using a combination of urban design, zoning regulations, and transportation planning to create more compact, walkable, and bike-friendly environments. As we continue to address the challenges of urbanization and environmental sustainability, the 15 Minute City offers a promising solution for creating more vibrant, resilient, and equitable urban spaces.
