“The Dummy” tells the story of a ventriloquist named Ted who becomes obsessed with his dummy, Mr. Jingles. As Ted’s popularity wanes, he begins to feel that Mr. Jingles is the true talent and resents him for it. The dummy seems to have a life of its own, taunting Ted and driving him to the brink of madness.
As Ted’s mental health deteriorates, he starts to hear Mr. Jingles speaking to him even when he’s not performing. The lines between reality and delusion blur as Ted struggles to come to terms with his jealousy and insecurity. Ultimately, Ted’s obsession with the dummy leads to a chilling climax that leaves the audience questioning what is truly real.
