The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “These are the registered men of the tribe of Ephraim, according to their families: The descendants of Shuthelah were from Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthelahites; The descendants of Becher were from Becher, the family of the Becherites; The descendants of Tahan were from Tahan, the family of the Tahanites. All these numbered 32,500 registered men of the tribe of Ephraim, listed by their families. These were the sons of Joseph, according to their families.” The LORD commanded Moses to count the men of the tribe of Ephraim and record their names and numbers. This census helped to organize the people of Israel and establish their inheritance in the Promised Land. Each tribe had a specific role and responsibility within the community, and the tribe of Ephraim was no exception. Through this census, the LORD demonstrated his care and provision for his people, guiding them on their journey and ensuring their unity and order as they entered the land he had promised them.
