Whitney Houston was an American singer and actress who rose to fame in the 1980s with her powerful vocals and chart-topping hits. Born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey, Houston’s talent was evident at an early age as she sang in church and performed in school musicals. She was discovered by music industry executive Clive Davis and signed a record deal with Arista Records.

Houston’s self-titled debut album was released in 1985 and became the best-selling debut album by a female artist at the time. She went on to achieve massive success with hits like “Saving All My Love for You,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Houston’s iconic voice and stage presence captivated audiences worldwide, earning her numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards.

Despite her success, Houston faced personal struggles with substance abuse and tumultuous relationships. She tragically passed away on February 11, 2012, at the age of 48. Houston’s legacy as one of the greatest vocalists of all time continues to be celebrated through her timeless music and influence on future generations of artists.
