In Genesis 41:8, Pharaoh had a dream that troubled him greatly. He called upon all the magicians and wise men of Egypt to interpret his dream, but none of them were able to provide an explanation. It was at this point that the chief butler remembered Joseph, who had accurately interpreted his dream while they were both imprisoned. Joseph was quickly summoned from the dungeon to stand before Pharaoh.
Joseph listened to Pharaoh’s dream and was able to provide a clear and accurate interpretation. He explained that the dream was a message from God, revealing that there would be seven years of abundance in the land, followed by seven years of severe famine. Joseph advised Pharaoh to store up grain during the years of abundance to prepare for the famine that would follow. Impressed by Joseph’s wisdom and insight, Pharaoh appointed him as second in command over all of Egypt.
This passage highlights Joseph’s faithfulness to God and his ability to interpret dreams, ultimately leading to his rise to power in Egypt.
