Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, was an American actress, model, and singer who became a major cultural icon and sex symbol during the 1950s and early 1960s. She grew up in foster homes and an orphanage and began working as a model in her late teens. Monroe’s breakthrough came in 1952 when she starred in the film “Niagara,” followed by leading roles in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “How to Marry a Millionaire.” She was known for her comedic talent, sultry looks, and iconic performances in films such as “Some Like It Hot” and “The Seven Year Itch.”

Despite her success in Hollywood, Monroe faced personal struggles with mental health issues and substance abuse. She was married three times, including to playwright Arthur Miller and baseball legend Joe DiMaggio. Monroe’s tragic death on August 4, 1962 at the age of 36 has become the subject of much speculation and conspiracy theories. However, her legacy as a pop culture icon and symbol of beauty and glamour endures to this day.
