God’s Glory Passes By Moses

In Exodus 33:19-23 in the New Living Translation, God proclaims to Moses his divine sovereignty and mercy. He tells Moses that he will show mercy to whom he chooses and will have compassion on whom he chooses. God reassures Moses that his presence will go with him and that he has found favor in his sight. Moses then asks God to show him his glory. God agrees to pass before Moses and declare his name, giving Moses a glimpse of his divine presence. However, God tells Moses that no one can truly see his face and live. Instead, God instructs Moses to stand on a rock while he passes by, shielding Moses with his hand. This passage highlights God’s power, mercy, and the awe-inspiring nature of his divine presence.
