Genesis Chapter Thirty-Seven Verse Twenty-Two

In the biblical text of Genesis 37:22 KJV, the narrative surrounds the story of Joseph, who was betrayed by his brothers out of jealousy. They plotted against him and ultimately decided to sell him into slavery. The verse reads, “And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.”

Reuben, who was one of Joseph’s brothers, suggested a less violent approach by advising them not to shed his blood but to rather throw him into a pit in the wilderness. He had intentions of returning to rescue Joseph and bring him back to their father. This act of betrayal marked the beginning of Joseph’s journey of trials and tribulations that ultimately led him to become a prominent figure in Egypt. Joseph’s story is one of resilience, faith, and forgiveness, showcasing the power of perseverance even in the face of adversity.
