In Genesis 7:17-20 of the King James Version, it describes how the flood waters prevailed upon the earth for forty days, causing the waters to increase and lift up the ark. The ark floated upon the surface of the waters, rising higher and covering the mountains up to fifteen cubits. As the waters continued to rise, all flesh that moved upon the earth perished, including birds, cattle, beasts, and every creeping thing. Only Noah and those with him in the ark were saved, as they were safe from the flood waters that destroyed all other life. This passage highlights the power and devastation of the flood, as well as the protection and salvation provided to those who were faithful and obedient to God’s commands.
