In Exodus 12:5-7, the Passover instructions are given to the Israelites by God through Moses. They are instructed to select a male lamb without blemish on the 10th day of the first month, and to keep it until the 14th day. On the evening of the 14th day, they are to kill the lamb and sprinkle its blood on the doorposts of their houses. They are also to roast the lamb and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. The blood on the doorposts will serve as a sign for the Lord to pass over their houses and spare them from the plague that will strike the firstborn in Egypt.

This passage symbolizes the sacrifice of the lamb as a substitution for the Israelites, as well as the commemoration of their deliverance from slavery in Egypt. It also serves as a reminder of God’s faithfulness in providing for and protecting His people.
