In Numbers 23:13-17 in the New Living Translation, Balak takes Balaam to a different location to curse the Israelites again. Balak is hoping for a different outcome, but Balaam tells him that regardless of where they stand, he can only speak the words that God puts in his mouth. As they stand on a hill overlooking the Israelite camp, Balaam once again receives a message from God, this time blessing the Israelites instead of cursing them. Balaam declares that he cannot speak anything other than what God commands, and he acknowledges the blessing that God has put on the Israelites. This passage highlights the power and sovereignty of God, as well as the importance of aligning oneself with His will. It serves as a reminder that God’s plans and blessings cannot be thwarted by human schemes or desires.
