Furry creature. (a tad exaggerated in my opinion)
The phrase “hairy critter” may seem a bit exaggerated to some, as it evokes a sense of something small and potentially unkempt. To tone down the exaggeration, a more subtle and slightly less colorful description could be used, such as “furry creature.” This still conveys the idea of an animal with a coat of fur, but in a more understated manner. The term “furry” is more commonly associated with soft and gentle textures, which can help soften the impact of the word “critter.”
Overall, while “hairy critter” may be a bit over the top for some, “furry creature” offers a more balanced and moderate description that retains the essence of the original phrase.
