As Joseph’s brothers prepared to leave Egypt after purchasing grain, Joseph instructed his steward to fill their sacks with food and also to place their money back in their sacks. Joseph’s generosity and cunning plan left his brothers bewildered and anxious about the unexpected turn of events. When they discovered the money in their sacks, fear set in as they assumed they would be accused of theft. Despite their protestations of innocence, the brothers decided to head back to Egypt to resolve the situation. Once they arrived in Egypt and explained the situation to Joseph’s steward, he assured them that their God had provided for them and returned their money to them. This act of divine intervention was a turning point for the brothers as they realized that their previous mistreatment of Joseph was wrong and struggled with feelings of guilt.
